Thought for the Week
"Most of the problems in life are because of two reasons: we act without thinking or we keep thinking without acting."
Congratulations to Gloria Nolen who was selected as queen of the Obion River District Association.
This Week's Sermon
Pastor Johnson's message was entitled "Replacing Fear and Worry with Faith and Peace," with the text taken from Philippians 4:6-7 and 2 Timothy 1:7. Pastor Johnson stated: "The subtitle to this message is "The Talk of the Town." God has not given us the spirit of fear. The bible teaches us that fear is a spirit that God has nothing to do with. Fear causes us to be unable to think straight, and the devil wants us to have this spirit of fear because if we are fearful, God cannot use us. Instead of the spirit of fear, God has given us power, not just ordinary power, but spiritual power that we can use here on earth. So what is the talk of the town? It is this corona virus that we keep hearing about. This virus is nothing new. Look at the housecleaning supplies and you can see it on the label. But for some reason, God has allowed it to spread like it has spread. He has gotten our attention. Sometimes God has to allow things like this to happen to get our attention. Sometimes we get so far out in left field that we lose sight of what is right and God has to reel us back in by allowing bad things to come into our lives that we can't handle. While we are figuring how to handle it, God has already worked it out. Philippians tells us not to worry about anything but to pray for everything. People who trust in the Lord do not worry. We need to replace our worry with prayer, telling Him what we need and thanking Him for what He has done. Because of the peace of God, we can keep our minds on Christ Jesus. God's peace is far above our peace and will allow us to get through every situation in life. Psalm 27:1 tells us that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in times of trouble. We can always go to the Lord for any situation we have. We do not have to worry about anything."
